mount server - application recovery

We have specified a specific mount server at at remote location.
This works great if we start a FLR restore. But as soon as we choose to start a explorer recovery (exchange, ad , sql explorer) it automatically mount it to the veeam server at the main site.
the main site does now have access inside the vm, just the hyper-v environement (backup with powershell direct).

Is this by design?

another question here is that our vpn to the customer only is for their hyper-v mgm network.
since the application recovery start from our veeam server, it wont' reach the customers VM network.
If we could get the application recovery to start from their mount server, that server has direct route to the VMs.

Please remind me a little of the infrastructure your customer has. As far as I remember, it's S2D Hyper-V cluster with local NAS attached, which is
configured alongside with Azure Blob as a SOBR, right?
Which machine has the role of a mount server for each of the extents at customer's side?

it's one of the local S2D server which holds the mount server.
As it says in the first line of the post here it says we have a local server running the mount role and it works great for guest file restore.
But as soon as we start Application item recovery Explores, it gets mounted to the Veeamserver on the main site (Azure)

Hi Frank, do you mean the initial mount for backup browsing or the actual restore also uses the wrong mount? Is it v10?

V10 yes.

The initial mount (when we choose Guest Files Windows) starts the mounting on the correct mounting server specified (one of the hyper-v host on-premise). But when we than choose f.ex Active Directory Explorer, it starts to mount the same session on the Veeam Console, which we run from the Azure VM. Shouldny the application recovery also be at the same server as the mount server?

Hi Frank,

By design, for Exchange and AD VBR mounts application restore points to the machine, where VBR console is installed.
As for SQL and Oracle, restore points are additionally mounted to the target machine.
Unless you configure a Staging Server, which may be needed in some cases described here.

so a solution could be to install a VBR console on on-premise for these kind of restores?
