why can't I configure a GFS retention policy with USB hard drives, and how can I use two interchangeable USB hard drives?

Hello Matthias,
Due to technical limitations, the use of rotated drives with GFS retention is not possible - this applies to both primary backup jobs and backup copy jobs. You may configure a simple retention policy if you would like to use rotated drives.
