Restore Hyper-V backup into VMware?

Does this mean that backup made from Hyper-V can be restored 1:1 to VMware OR that it's now possible by using Instant Recovery to boot up Hyper-V VM's on VMware?

Hi Peter, it is an Instant Recovery capability, so the VM will be running directly from backup file until you finalize the IR and migrate it to production datastore. Thanks!

Hi all,

I'm replacing an old ESXi Server with a new Hyper-V Server. I will create new Hyper-V VMs for all ESXi VMs, but one. I have to convert One of the ESXi VM to Hyper-V.

Now, would it be possible to backup that VM from ESX, start that VM from the Backup Repository and move it to the Hyper-V Server?

Right now, you will need to use any VM converter to migrate VMs from vSphere to Hyper-V, restoring as well as instant recovery of VMware backup to Hyper-V is not possible.

As we announced at VeeamON 2020, instant recovery of any backup to Hyper-V will be available in v11. Currently, only Veeam Agent for Windows (VAW) backups can be instantly restored as a Hyper-V VM. However, you can always perform BMR restore to a VMware VM from VAW backup, of course. This will likely work better than any converter out there. Thanks!
