Backups Proxy

Post by Einar »

Hello

I have backup proxies specially for replica jobs from VM's located on local disks (not shared) on the ESXi servers, they are set to only interact to this local volumes and should not be used for our NetApp storage. This has been working without problems until now.
After upgrade from v9.5u4 to v10 Veeam started to use them for my backups from storage snapshots on NetApp, resulting in falling backups. I had to disable the proxies to get my backups to finish.
Are there any new settings that I have to activate after the update to prevent Veeam from using these proxies for NetApp storage snapshots?

Hi Einar,

You may restrict a particular proxy usage using these settings.

Thanks

That is exactly how they are configured but after the update to v.10 Veeam seems to ignore that.

Do you mean the replication proxy is deselected while there is another proxy that is chosen for backup from storage snapshot? If the configuration is correct but the behavior is unexpected I would suggest raising a support case on this matter so we could get more details to assume what's going on. Please share your case id if that is the case.

Thank you.

Yes, the replication proxies (1 per ESXi host) are deselected and the physical Veeam server is a proxy for backup from NetApp storage snapshots, he has a 10 Gbit network card connectid to NetApp just for that.
This setup worked perfectly in v. 9.5u4 but after upgrade to v. 10 (no other changes) it looks like Veeam is ignoring these settings.
I will do some tests and if I find nothing I will open a case next week.

Thank you. Please let us know your case ID once raised. I just had a quick talk with our QC team and they have confirmed that this behavior looks unexpected - now they eagerly wait to have a look at the debug logs :).

I wanted to open a case but the website only allow me to open a case for test versions and free product, still I can see our "Veeam Backup & Replication Enterprise Plus" license in my portal.
Do I have to be a license administrator to open a case?

Yes, you should be a license administrator or a case administrator to open a case via the support portal. Please refer to this KB for more info.

Job logs are missing from the uploaded log bundle. Could you please upload them as well? You can find them in the following folder.

Code: Select all

C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup\
Thanks
