Restore Office 365 - without license

Hi.

We have a customer which have a Veeam for Office 365 solution and they would like us to do the Office 365 backup for them.
They would like us to start with a fresh backup.

Will they be able to restore data form their old system when their license have expired?

Tore, are you talking about the Office 365 license or the VBO365 license?

Am I correct in understanding you are a service provider and the customer wants to stop their on-premises backup and move to you?

It's the VBO365 license we are talking about.
Yes we are service provider and the want to move the backup to us.
Starting from scratch - not moving the existing backup.

They would like to be able to restore from the backup they av on-prem, without a license if possible.

That should not be an issue as long as they have the backup files, they should be able to restore data from them. We don't block restores with an invalid license.
