VeeamOne on Domain, VBR in Workgroup, access denied

Post by peeky1323 »

Hi,

We have a Windows 10 VM running VeeamOne which is part of an active directory domain. We have a VBR server that is not part of the domain. I am unable to add the VBR server in Veeamone and get access denied. I am using VBRserver\user. I have tried creating the same local accounts on both machines but it made no difference. Is there any way around this other than joining the VBR to the domain? The VBR is also a vCetner server and all DCs are VMS so the client wants it;s stand alone.

Many thanks,

Matt

Maybe try .\user instead of vbrserver\user?

It should work just fine, given that you specify the local admin account when adding Veeam B&R to Veeam ONE console. Can you please open a support case with our technical team? Meanwhile I will ask our QC team to reproduce this behavior.

[MERGED] Unable to add B&R server to Veeam ONE

Post by mcvosi »

My B&R server is not domain joined, but my ONE server is. I am getting an access denied no matter what credential format I use. I've tried <servername>\<username>, <username> only. All I get is access denied.

Any thoughts?

OK, I set permissions for WMI, but now I am seeing it's unable to detect B&R.

Hi Matthew,

What account do you use to register the Veeam B&R server in ONE? Is it a local admin of that machine belonging to the Veeam Backup Administrator group?

Thanks!

I am attempting to register it using a local admin account on the B&R server.

Got it! Make sure this local admin account is also part of Veeam backup admins. If specifying the "VBR machine name\local admin account" does not help, then please contact our support team for setup verification. Once you do this, please post your case ID for future reference. Thanks!

The group configuration is over here: Configuring Veeam Backup Server Roles

Thanks for the case ID! I will ask our team to take a look at this on Monday.

Hi Matthew,

Just for the sake of isolating the issue, could you please try to disable UAC on the backup server and see if it helps. Also, I would suggest playing with 3rd-party firewalls if any are used, due to the same reasons.

Thanks
