Dedupe Value shown in Report

Post by stevendt »

Hi,

Newbie here, I have tried searching for an answer to this question, but couldn't find it - could someone help please?

Veeam B&R 10 Community Edition

What does the Dedupe value actually mean? I have backed up some data from a DFS volume, it's mainly compressed data already, so I don't expect to get a lot of compression. I think that Veeam will try to compress the backup and do some Deduplication of it's own, but I don't understand what the numbers are telling me.

Veeam Server controlled backup with an Agent on the target server

Total Size 1.4TB (Target Volume total size?)
Backup Size 515 GB (That's what I expect the source data to be)
Data Read 515 GB (Consistent with the above)
Transferred 515 GB (Ditto)
Dedupe 10.3x ???? What does that mean?
Compression 1.2x ???? If data was being compressed, would the Transferred value not be 20% smaller than the source?

Regards
Dave

Hello,
I cannot confirm what you see. Here everything fits (yes, the name is full backup, but it is only volume backup of drive c:\).

10 x 2,3 x 1,7 = 39,1

Total size is the volume size. In my case 40 GB with 16,6 GB used.

Agree, your values look strange. You can open a support case, but with community edition, the chances are high, that there will be no further investigations...

Best regards,
Hannes

Hi,
thanks for the info.
Unfortuately, I don't think that the Community Edition even lets raise case.
I think the only "support" is via the Forums

Dave
