Linux server login frequency

Post by MaPf »

Hi all,

I'm using B&R10 to back up to a Synology via managed Linux server repository.
Works fine so far.

In the protocol log I can see login intervals around 15 minutes and everytime about 7 logins even if there is no backup running.
I assume that's some kind of hearbeat...
Is there a way to decrease the number of logins and/or increase the login interval (maybe once a day or every 6hrs)?

Thanks
Markus

Hello, yes most likely it is the resource scheduler polling for available storage resources. It may be possible to decrease the frequency with some registry settings, but we don't have this information handy... will need to dig this out from the developers, which may take some time :D thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply.
Would be nice to have that information ... the Syno log gets somewhat flooded ;)

Right, this indeed looks like the periodic repository rescan which is done every 15 minutes by default. There's a RescanExtentStatusSec registry value to alter that period, it is set in seconds, so the default is 900, feel free to increase it and don't forget to restart the Veeam Backup Service.

Thank you.
I can't seem to find that parameter in the registry on the Veeam server... do I need to add it manually?
If so, where?
I noticed one more thing ... if only the linux server is registered (without the repository), there is a login-interval of 4 hours.
Can that be changed, too?

Best regards
Markus

Yep, just create the DWORD value under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication.

For the second case, there's a periodic infrastructure rescan that can be changed via the VolumesDiscover_Periodically_Hours value in hours (same type, same place).

Awesome, thanks.
RescanExtentStatusSec = 86400
and
VolumesDiscover_Periodically_Hours = 12
works for me.
Is there a Button to mark the topic as resolved?

That's not needed actually. Your positive feedback is enough. ;)
