VeeamZip restore without license

Post by lsittech »

Hi All,

We have been using Veeam for 10 years now. Great product and very happy. However we are about to go full cloud with a provider and will no longer need the product :(

I am in the process of doing a VeeamZip Backup of all production servers as a "Just in Case" copy if I forget something.

Is there a free option to be able to restore guest files from these veeamzip backups if needed? Mainly if we have forgotten something...

I tried to used the windows agent but it says it cannot restore from backup and restore product.
I have tried the extractor and that is a good alternative, however was hoping to not have to extract the full vm and then open it in virtualbox. Rather just look straight into the veeamzip file and copy out.

Thanks in advance

Veeam B&R Community Edition is free and it should be possible to use it for restore files.

Hi Stephen,

If you want to use Veeam Agent to restore backups, then you need to create a backup with the Agent. Backups created by Veeam B&R cannot be imported to the Agent to perform a restore operation.

Thanks!

Thanks for the help.
Managed to get the community edition working to be able to restore my veeamzip files.
Hopefully we have migrated thoroughly and wont need them though.

Cheers
