How to get a SMB share copied into Azure
I am using v10, and I have a SMB file share sitting on my Data Domain (which is associated to my scale-out repository) that I want copied/mirrored to my Azure blob storage (either as the primary storage or secondary target) but it seems this is not possible according to support. What are you guys doing to accomplish such a task through Veeam or did you revert to using storage explorer or robocopy or a different 3rd party tool?

Re: How to get a SMB share copied into Azure
Hi Chad.
Support is right, we do not copy SMB files to Object Storage directly. We can backup your share locally(or to Azure VM with normal disks), and use Object Storage as cheaper "Archive Repository" to store older file versions that you might never need, but have to keep for years to comply with internal policies.
Thanks!

Could this be added as a feature request then?

Re: How to get a SMB share copied into Azure
Just to confirm, are you using an SMB share on a DD as a Veeam repository? If that's the case, then the DD repo when added to SOBR should be able to be leveraged as the source for copying backups to Capacity Tier within SOBR.
On the other hand if this is just an SMB share used for copying data to the DD outside of Veeam, then yes, what support and Egor have shared are spot on.

Re: How to get a SMB share copied into Azure
The DD is used for SQL dumps and holds the storage unit used for vmware backups. The SMB share is located on DD which is also set up as a repository but only the storage unit is visible when viewing the folder structure when used as a repository. The storage unit has all my vmware backups but not the actual SMB share.
