Advice and suggestions for Veeam S3260

Post by lcjr1977 »

Hey guys,

I have 2 S3260 Chassis with 2 servers in each. Looking for some suggestions on how to design the Veeam environment for that data center. I have an old Comvault environment there that I am decommissioning in favor of Veeam. It is going to be a fresh deployment of Veeam on the S3260s. Thank you.

Could you please elaborate a bit on what are your workloads going to be what role are you planning to assign to the mentioned hardware?

Thank you for your response. The workload consists of 3 VMware vSAN clusters (8 nodes each). One cluster is for SQL Server and Maria DB, consisting of 277 virtual machines. The second cluster is for Domain Controllers, File servers, DNS, HA proxy load balancers, web servers, and other supporting servers. This cluster has 220 VMs. The third cluster is for persistent VDI with Citrix Virtual Apps, 300 VMs. I am actually looking for advice on how to purpose the hardware for Veeam for this particular environment.

Hello and welcome to the forums!

I'd suggest to start with this whitepaper in regards to the recommended configuration options for S3260

Thank you very much that is a great white paper. However, it only addresses the installation of Veeam on a chassis with one server. I have 2 S3260 chassis with 2 servers each. I am trying to come up with a Veeam design that makes use of the four servers total in the 2 S3260 chassis.

You can assign other nodes the repository roles and consider building a scale-out repository from them or use some of them as a secondary target for the backup copy jobs.
