Veeam Newbie here to backup sharepoint

Post by johnfli »

I am testing Veeam to backup my on-prem sharepoint farm.
from what i've seen, I use "Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Sharepoint"
after opening the app, the only option I have to connect it the the database.
I browse to the content database on my sharepoint farm......and I get told to F-off as that file is already in use.

How am i suppose to backup sharepoint if I cant connect to it?

Hi John, do I understand right that you're trying to connect to the production database? Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Sharepoint is a tool used for restores, you need to create a backup job for your SharePoint server first, to create an application-consistent backup of it. Thanks!

It is Veeam B&R itself, just open the Veeam B&R console.

cool,
got the Front-end and the database backed up.
went to try to do an item restore......
started teh process....picked application item restore, then MS Sharepoint (i like how it finds the farm on its own)
as i finish the wizard, it open 'veeam explorer for MS sharepoint' on it's own.
At that point, it sits at 'loading microsoft schemas' for a long time.....then eventually disapears. Doesn't show anything under databases in the veeam explore for MS sharepoint. it looks done with no results.
If i close veeam explorer....i see a quick message saying its closing the save point.
How do I know it's still working on it and not dead in teh water if all indications goes away?

Sounds like you need assistance from our technical support - hard to investigate via forums but session logs will definitely tell what happens.
