Hi Can i just update the VCSA to ESX 7.0 ? (All ESX hosts will remain same on 6.7). I don't use any fancy plugins etc... Or better wait till you bring the patch for ESX 7.0 / Veeam 11
Appreciate any advise
Yes, you should be fine upgrading vCenter only, we will not refuse to support you on these grounds. The patch for the "official" support including hosts should be released next week.
Done the upgrade of VCSA to 7.0 (Very easy) & Happy to say all Veeam 10 backup/replication jobs are working fine
I will update ESX hosts when you say all OK. No hurry at all LOL
Next weekend I'm doing an upgrade from vSphere 6.5 to 6.7. In preparation, I'm doing a vCenter upgrade to 6.7 and not 7.0. The 4 VMware hosts are HP ProLiant's. I've learned over many years of IT, not to live on the "Bleeding Edge" . Although its compelling to go to vCenter 7.0 and I'm sure vSphere 6.7 will run just fine, I wouldn't do it in a production environment. Lab environment...Go for it .
Hi Gio think you are good to go from VCSA 6.5 to 7.0 Upgrade and 6.7 on ESX hosts. Like you all my hosts are HPE PL's (You can flash your's HPE PL's with the latest HPE SPP while taking the ESX hosts down. https://techlibrary.hpe.com/us/en/enter ... index.aspx)
I had just one issue not enough space for the export (Approx 3.5GB) on source VCSA for some reason. Found out I had 9GB free space on /tmp (using this command df -h) so I used it. Make sure you have a good backup of your VCSA & Try to clear any unwanted log's, data before starting the upgrade procedure.

Any ETA on the "official" support on vSphere 7.0 and ESXi 7.0? It's two weeks since the reply above. We would like to implement kubernetes and containers and VMware 7.0 is needed for that..
Friends, has anyone tested for comparison the improvements in thin disk functionality when restoring or replicating?
With the release of vSphere 7.0, VMware has improved the first-write process when using thin provisioned VMDKs. While VMware still recommends using Eager Zeroed Thick (EZT) virtual disks for maximum performance, this new method should decrease much of the on-first-write performance overhead previously experienced with thin VMDKs. For an overview of the new feature, see the VMware vSphere 7 Core Storage whitepaper.
Have Veeam 10.0.1.4854, ESXi 7.0 16324942, vCenter 7.0.10600 build 16620007 Attempting to backup any VM on the ESX 7 hosts (vsan or direct disk), receives the error it failed to initiate NFC session. logs show connection to NFC succeeds but authentication fails. Have tried backup jobs thru vCenter using the administrator account and direct to the host using root account. Support case# is 04320791.
Looking to see if anyone else is experiencing the same issue or having success with Veeam 10 and vSphere 7.0.
