Files and folders (slower) option of ACL Handling Settings

Hi,

Do you know how slower it will be when we select Files and folders (slower) option of ACL Handling Settings?
In our test environment, the time for full backup increased to 115%.
Is this common?

There are 122210 files of 200 KB(random data).

It depends solely on the number of files. The more files to process ACL for, the longer the backup will take.

Hello Yukinobu,

Looks like you are comparing two full backup jobs runs (such runs are indeed more less identical in terms of performance since the job will read all the content anyway). If you want to see the difference - try to compare the incremental job runs instead. Cheers!

Indeed, it was noticeably slower with a lower rate of changed files for incremental backups.

Thanks for sharing! That's true - with attributes tracking for files we do read every file attribute to track if it was modified or not (we do not rely on backup cache feature for ACL tracking), thus you see the slower processing.
