Hi there!
I have an interesting question, I'd love to listen from the Experts, when I take a backup for my SQL VM why it stuns for too long time.
Do I have to install something on my SQL VMs fo the backup to take place without affecting my VMs?

I am relatively new to VEEAM/Backup technologies in general, so excuse me if you see that this is a very basic question/Reply.

Hello,
it's a common issue for high change rate / transaction VMs (e.g. SQL servers) depending on the environment (VMware version etc.).
That's why we implemented backup from storage snapshots
nothing needs to be installed on the VM.

Another option is to deploy the Veeam Agent for Windows within the VMs. This would still do a VSS snapshot but not a hypervisor snapshot. But I agree with Hannes that backup from storage snapshots (for VMware environments) is the best option here to reduce stun and not deploy anything within the VMs.
