File share to Cloud Connect target?

Post by drichman »

I have a file share on a Windows server (which also happens to be B&R backup repository target, on a different set of disks). I would like to backup the files in the share directly to our Cloud Connect target in Vegas. When configuring the backup job, it only offers local backup repositories, not the Cloud. Is there any way to get it to the cloud without first making another copy on the local disk?

Hi, Dean - no, Cloud Connect is not yet supported as a copy target for NAS backups. Thanks!

Is it on the road map?

So the only way to get a copy to our CC target is to make a local backup and then do a copy/secondary job?

For sure it's on the track, no estimates on delivery date though.
As for the current NAS+CC state, one cannot be used as main target, nor as secondary copy target, nor as archival target. That is, you cannot copy NAS data to CC at all.
Easiest way to offload NAS data between locations as of today, would be either S3-compatible storage(to be used as NAS Archive Repository) or hosted SMB\NFS share or a Windows\Linux server exposed to your VBR server(can be used for both Secondary Repository and Archival Repository). List of NAS targets and possible use cases can be found here (scroll down to the table).
/Thanks!
