GFS Jobs Timing / Tape Count?

Hi,

i am trying to set up an GFS Media Pool.

For my Setup:
- 1 GFS Pool with following retention:
4 Weekly
3 Quarterly
1 Yearly
- 1 Regular Tape Job with two Jobs (Agent and VM Backup) as source

I am wondering when the Quarterly GFS will happen.
Do they get created three Months from now on? Or will they get created on a fixed date something like in January, May, September, December?
The Monthly can be specified with date or the x the ...day each Month.

Is it right, that i need 8 Tapes for my Scenario?
The Idea is to run Synthetic Fulls in the Source Jobs the Tape Jobs run on Saturday aswell. The timer for the GFS Pool is on Saturday aswell.
In my world we get an overlap for the Quarterly and the Yearly runs. Is this right?

i still wonder tho if the "countdown" for quarterly means:

- from now on in 3 Months the quarter Ends
- in Month 1-3,3-6,6-9,9-12 of the year

My colleague is asking me "when do i have to take out the Tape". Ideally he never has to look into Veeam...

I don't have quarterly configured in my GFS pool. But in the screenshot above it is possible to configure whatever day your colleague likes (or I misunderstood the question)

The Options i have is to set the schedule for a week day per quarter - Which month?
Or day of the Quarter... again, which month?

I assume that your Windows uses Gregorian calendar (default). that means:
- first quarter begins in January
- second quarter begins in April
- third quarter begins in July
- fourth quarter begins in October

the first day of each quarter is the starting point.
