show deleted items in veeam one client

Post by mbowers3 »

Does anybody know the registry setting to see deleted items in veeam one for your user?

Hello,
and welcome to the forums.

Hmm, what kind of "items" do you mean? Is it about deleted VMs, datastores, files or whatever?

Maybe there are some kinds of reports that show some information if the date range is selected properly.

Best regards,
Hannes

Yes deleted vm's, datastores, clusters. I know you can add a registry to HKEY_CURRENT_USER in Veeam ONE Monitor on where you have the veeam one client installed and then all those deleted vm's, datastores, clusters show up in the veeam one client. I just cant remember what the registry was, I thought it was something like a DWORD ShowDeletedItems but that didnt work.

Hello Matt,

Please try the following key:

ShowDeletedNodes
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Veeam\Veeam ONE Monitor\
(DWORD) = 1 will show all deleted data in the UI

Please, restart Veeam ONE Monitor after adding the value.

Don't hesitate to ask if you have additional questions.

I'm trying to find out when a VM was deleted. vCenter was reinstalled without historic data a while ago, so no chance to find anything there. I tried the regkey here, but I don't see any deleted VM's in Veeam One GUI. Should this still work with v11? Any other way to find out when a VM was deleted? I'm currently looking into "Infrastructure Changes Audit" report but its taking ages to return data based on VM level for 4 weeks.

Hello Prix

It should work but there could be some additional considerations. For example, Veeam ONE ignores ShowDeletedNodes (HKCU\Software\Veeam\Veeam ONE Monitor\) if IgnoreDeletedEntities (HKLM\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam ONE Monitor\Service\) value is activated.
I wouldn't recommend changing these registry settings without technical support supervising.

Infrastructure Changes Audit is a proper way to investigate. In general, reporting performance depends on multiple factors. If the report loads too long, simply try to decrease the time range.

Thanks.

Hallo
Works this workaround also for version 11 or is there a report for deleted items for example vm's?

Hello jcandres,

The answer is actually the same as above the key should work but might not work in some cases.

If you want to investigate when VM was deleted run Infrastructure Changes Audit report.
If you want just list deleted VMs for the last days or time range you may run Infrastructure Changes by Object, and set object types: vSphere Virtual machine
The result would be something like that

Thanks
