Upgrade 10A - can customers use Datalabs to test?

Post by leer0ySyd »

Note from a Veeam user below:

We've just gone through the upgrade process from v10 to v10a. Everything has worked but several of the machines now require a reboot. This is difficult as many of them are business-critical and reboot windows are difficult to get. The main problem is that we do not know in advance if a machine will require a reboot or not. It seems random, some machines do and some don't although it is not random, probably because the machines have different versions of various MS-Windows components.

What would make things VERY much easier would be if Veeam had a "Upgrade Prep" tool that could be run across our environment that would show, in advance, what machines would require a reboot after an upgrade so we can organise outage windows for them. We could just do an outage windows for everything (unlikely to be approved in our environment) but this would mean significant impact to the business.

Could Datalabs be utilized for testing of updates? or is anything else being planned that might assist here?

Hello,
and welcome to the forums.

Just to make sure: are you talking about VMs, or Veeam Agent for Windows managed by VBR?

For VMs: I don't believe the statement without a confirmation from support (case number)

Best regards,
Hannes
