Veeam backup fails from certain time (support case ID: 04371244)

Hello.

support case ID: 04371244

I'm using Veeam Agent for linux ver. 4.0.1.2365 to backup Linux Ubuntu 16.04.7 server to SMB share.
Once I updated system on August 26 2020 (apt update && apt upgrade), veeam job began to fail.

I get following error in session log:

"Файл существует" means "File exists" in russian (this locale is used on server).
All other host with similar configuration (Same OS version, Agent version, same SMB share) backup without any errors.

Hi Mikhail,

Could you check if the files
"/tmp/veeam/192.168.1.10backup1/mail mail_1/mail.vbm.tmp", "/tmp/veeam/192.168.1.10backup1/mail mail_1/mail.vbm"
really exist in repository?

If yes - please try to temporary move them to another directory and re-run the job.
Please keep working with Support team if it doesn't help.

/tmp/veeam/192.168.1.10backup1/ is empty.

I tried following steps to solve the problem:
  • reinstall veeam agent (apt install veeam --reinstall; apt remove veeam && apt install veeam) - no success
  • delete backup job and create new with different name - no success
  • move existing backup files (.vbm and .vbk) to another folder - no success
now backup folder contains following files:

Mikhail,

I see you have the following files:

02.09.2020  05:59             1 110 mail.vbm
04.09.2020  16:24             6 745 mail.vbm.tmp
according to your error log we were trying to rename the file mail.vbm.tmp -> mail.vbm, but mail.vbm already exists.
Is it still failing with the same error message

Code: Select all

boost::filesystem::rename:File already exists: <tmp file name> <file name>
?
I would still suggest to temporary move "mail.vbm" file to another directory and try to re-run the job.

Thank you for your help.

The problem was solved by itself after the next update and restart of the server.
