[SOLARIS] Cannot create recovery CD in Oracle Solaris 11.4 X86

Post by aderusha »

I've deployed a fresh Oracle Solaris 11.4 VM to test the Veeam agent backup process. The installation works as expected, but creating the recovery media fails after not finding the following libraries:

Code: Select all

/lib/t300s
/lib/t450
/lib/t4014
/usr/lib/kssladm
/lib/svc/method/svc-dumpadm
/lib/svc/method/svc-utmpd
/lib/platexec
touching these files allows the installation to proceed until the process attempts to run `/usr/bin/isalist`, a command which has been deprecated in Solaris 11.

Is the Solaris agent usable on 11.4? Are there plans for this to actually be an agent? As it stands it appears to be a standalone backup solution with zero integration into Veeam for management or media repositories.

Hi,

Unfortunately the current version of Veeam for Solaris does not support 11.4 (11.3 is the latest that is supported). The User Guide will be updated with versions minor digits shortly.

Regarding the actual error that is thrown when the software is trying to call the deprecated command - QA team has been informed and it will be checked for version below 11.4

Integration with Veeam repositories and centralized management is on our roadmap, however I cannot provide you with any ETA.

Thanks!

I would like to see this support. I'm running 11.4 x86 in a lab, and have run into the same issue with being unable to build either the miniroot or the recovery ISO. I see that Solaris 11.4 went GA in Sept, 2018. I cannot even download Oracle Solaris 11.3 to test things, since they take the old version down as soon as the current version ships. Definitely get this thing under control, managed by Veaam B&R console, and landing on the repos... It does NOT show well in front of customers, and is the least "veeam-like" thing I've seen yet from Veeam.

We're working hard on an update for the Unix agent to fulfill these requests.

Since Version 2 has been out for a bit now, can it be used to perform a bare-metal recovery? We don't see mention of the creation of a recovery image/iso in the updated documentation that was in the initial release.
