File level restore not working

Post by Wil »

Good afternoon,
I'm trying to do a file restore but, i'm getting the message below.

d:\ mount failed
The volume does not contain a recognized file system.
Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted.

The server has 2 virtual disk.
C:\ - which is the where the OS is installed
F:\ - User's data

Anyone has any tips to fixing this issue?
Thanks

Are you using unsupported disk layout in your VM (for example GPT or dynamic disk) by any chance? This is documented in the release notes. I would try using Multi-OS FLR wizard, it supports 15 file systems and uses different approach, often helps. Thanks.

I did try the FLR wizard and got the error below:

Timed out waiting for FLR helper appliance to respond. Possible causes:
1. Appliance is configured to run on different network than backup server.
2- Appliance is configured to obtain IP address automatically, but DHCP server is not available.

The drive i'm trying to restore the files from is a dynamic disk.
It's odd though, I've done other restores on different servers and they have been successful.

This error means that you do not have FLR helper appliance IP settings configured correctly (nothing to deal with the issue above).
Dynamic disks are generally unsupported, but depending on specific type, may work in multi-OS FLR wizard.
