Upgrading from 9.5.4b to 10.0.0SP2 or 10.0.1 ?
Hello friends,
To be able to test Veeam module to backup Solaris/Sparc, I need to upgrade my env (currently VBR 9.5.4b) to V10.
I don't know yet my target version : 10.0.0 SP2 or 10.0.1 ?
Any advises ? Anyone yet running 10.0.1 in prod ? Any major issue to know ?
Thanks for sharing your inputs !
Cheers

Hello,
Please take a look at this page on our help center to find upgrade check list and instructions, the latest build is 10.0.1.4854, it's available for download on Veeam Backup & Replication Download page. You may refer to this KB for release notes, the download link is provided in the KB as well.
Thanks!

Thanks. I am not directly looking at procedure to upgrade but at determining best version to upgrade to.
I would like to avoid switching too quickly to a version that is too young ...
Cheers

The version 10a is totally fine as it introduces many enhancements and fixes based on our v10 customers feedback.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Have you done it ?
10a works fine but there is a different handling with the filenames that I didn´t see inside the changelog before.
Actually I do the way back because of not understanding why the file and folder naming of the backup files is different to before.
For most it will be an "optical problem" but if there are complexe structures behind it with auto copy jobs and such things, it is not only optical.
The difference is that there will be created subfolders by the windows agent jobs that hasn´t been created before.
Could be that there is a good reason for this, but I can not see anyone.
I hope the "problem" could be solved or "shipped by" but I think someone has done it after thinking about, so I don´t believe that it will be "solved".

Since the majority of Veeam users are on v10 now (approximately two thirds), chances he has done it are good
As for the file or folder naming, usually such changes are made to address bugs due to the file name conflicts.
@Dima P. do you know the reason?

ThierryF, glad to hear. Thanks for updating this thread!
Vogelsang-IT, folder structure has been updated in last 9.5 patch - we have addressed multiple issues related to long names and long paths in backup files.
