(Beginner) - Synchronize two server
Hi,
Here is the situation=
I have configured 2 server with veeam backup and replication.
SERVER 1:
Backup 3XHyper-V server (20 host) locally but also it send the backup through the cloud (veeam cloud connect) on the server 2
SERVER 2 :
Receive the backup of server 1 in case of DRP
PROBLEM=
BUT, sometimes i want to test the restore of backup.
From Server 1 i can restore backup locally and even i can choose restoring from SERVER 2
The problem is -> On server 2, can not do a restore. When i go to restore > Microsoft Hyper-V , a dialog box appear but is empty i can not see the backup. How can i add my file receveid from SERVER 1?
NB: When i do a import backup i have a message: "backup already exist".
Can you help me please?

Re: (Beginner) - Synchronize two server
Hello,
Actually, restore must be requested by tenant - Server 1. The role of service provider (Server 2) is to manage target backup infrastructure, tenant data and tenant accounts. I would say that it's expected that you cannot restore data on provider's side from backup created by tenant. You may refer to this page on our help center for more information.
However, I'm wondering to know the purpose of triggering restore from the Server 2? I'd suggest to backup configuration of the server 1 instead so that you can restore its configuration in case of disaster and run necessary restore tasks.
Thanks!

Not sure why are you using Cloud Connect at all, seems it is not needed in your case. I'd suggest using backup copy jobs for your DR scenario instead.

Thanks for your reply.
I use cloud connect because my server is to another city.
The problem is, for DISATER RECOVERY PLAN , if SERVER 1 died, how i can restore backup on server 2?

If you use backup copy jobs to get backups offsite (to another city), you can import them into a new Veeam B&R installation, for example. Or, if you also use configuration backup functionality, import the configuration to a new instance to pick up all the backups automatically, like Petr has suggested.

Are you using Cloud Connect for the Enterprise license or the service provider one?

Yes. I try to import the vbk file which is generated by Server 1 on the disk D: on server 2.

In the suggested scenario, you do not need Cloud Connect at all. You need to run backup copy jobs to a remote repository instead. In case of DR, you can quickly fire up a new Veeam B&R instance and import the copied backups there.

On a side note, since you're using Cloud Connect, can you please clarify the connectivity between two sites and why you're using VCC?
