Feature Request: MySQL for Backup and Replication
Veeam Support - Case # 04432112 - MySQL support
Hello,
I am very interested in the MySQL Application Item for Backup and Replication product. We have many Linux servers(about 30%) running MySQL and no good way to back them up using veeam. I noticed that the feature is in the Veeam Agent Product, but nothing so far in the Backup and Replicaton produce. Is there an ETA on this?
Thanks, Jessie

Hi,
Your request has been noted. I'd like to ask you a couple of questions though:
Thanks!
Your request has been noted. I'd like to ask you a couple of questions though:
So, you want to be able to restore MySQL instances, or separate databases within an instance? Speaking of instances - do you run multiple instances on a single host, or it's always one instance per host? What about clusters or replicas?I am very interested in the MySQL Application Item for Backup and Replication product.
Have you tried Linux Agent? If yes, then what's missing? We have many Linux servers(about 30%) running MySQL and no good way to back them up using veeam.
AFAIK, there is no ETA yet, but I will check. Is there an ETA on this?
Thanks!

Re: Feature Request: MySQL for Backup and Replication
Hello,
Most all of our server have just one MySQL or MariaDB instance and we would want to restore DB under those instances.
I have not tried the agent and 99% of our stuff is on Vmware.
Thanks, Jessie

Re: Feature Request: MySQL for Backup and Replication
With veeam v10, only a single license for „vm image backup“ and „agent backup“ for the same vm is consumed. You don‘t need to pay two times to process the same vm.
You can backup your Vm with the default vsphere backup Jobs and do a second agent backup (if the vm is not this big )
It could be a workaround for you, until there is some integration in Image Level Guest Application Aware Proccessing.

+1 to be available for Windows application-aware processing.

Re: Feature Request: MySQL for Backup and Replication
We only have 6 agent licenses and all are in use by Physical servers, will need to wait until the application aware process for MySQL comes available. These are all running on Linux boxes, mostly CentOS.
Thanks, Jessie

Re: Feature Request: MySQL for Backup and Replication
@jhaggerty the application aware process for MySQL is already available in Veeam Agent for Linux. And as @Mildur explained, you don't need additional instances to use agents in VMs running on hosts which are covered by a Socket-based license.

Look at this guide.
You can start with step 3, because you have already a vbr server
