Feat req: historical Tape space consumption data in Job Report

Post by Unreliably-Recurring »

Ref: Case #04395875; Case #04395877.

Description: Request database be made to log tape historical per-Job-instance Free Space, or the report updated show the historical data, or the report's Free Space cell be hidden (or something) for the job instances prior to the most recent time the tape was used.

Detail: The Report for a Tape job currently shows only a tape's most recent Free Space value for every time the tape is shown in the report historically.

For example, if a 2.4T tape was first used and exported in January with 1TB actually free, and has been erased and re-used to varying extents occasionally throughout the year before being exported yesterday with 2.1TB free, then today the Report will show 2.1TB for every use all year.

For Case 04395877 we are trying to diagnose a problem with a Media Pool that started behaving badly following the v10a update installation.
Support initially tried to use the report to get historical Free Space info, but discovered that the report doesn't actually show it.

Historical Free Space data is probably useful in other ways too, or else the Report probably wouldn't have been created to indicate that it was showing it. :)

Hello Unreliably-Recurring,

Thank you for your post! Support team has already shared this feedback with us, so we are aware of this behavior. Mind me asking if, by any chance, you've looked at VeeamOne reporting capabilities? For instance Backups on Tape report from Veeam One can show not only the backup files but the space history of your tape media? Cheers!
