How to find transport mode?

Post by HendersonD »

I could have sworn that Veeam use to show the transport mode (SAN, Network, or Hot-add) that a job uses in the GUI but I cannot find it now. I click on a backup job, select one VM from the list on the left and Veeam shows all the steps it went through while backing up this VM. Below are the step from one VM. I do not see what transport mode was used in any of these steps. How can I find what transport mode is being used?

Creating VM snapshot 00:02
Collecting disk files location data 00:05
Removing VM snapshot 00:02
Queued for processing at 10/16/2020 7:24:01 AM
Required backup infrastructure resources have been assigned

Saving [VMWare1] Cloudpath/Cloudpath.vmx 00:00
Saving [VMWare1] Cloudpath/Cloudpath.nvram 00:00
Using backup proxy VeeamProxy1 for retrieving Hard disk 1 data from storage snapshot 00:35

Using backup proxy VeeamProxy1 for retrieving Hard disk 1 data from storage snapshot 00:35
Storage integration is being utilized.

I guess the interface changed a bit. I thought it use to have [SAN] shown within the job. In my replication job I do see [nbd] or network mode so I though in my backup job I would see [SAN]. Thanks for the information

[SAN] tag would mean the usage of VMware VDDK for the Direct SAN access transport mode, which is different from what you have going. Backup from storage snapshots does not use VDDK at all, instead Veeam reads the data directly from the snapshot by itself.

Got it. I have a Nimble storage array and we do use the integration with Veeam which works great
