hotfix, performance degradation on vsphere 4

I have not yet applied the patch since I am still using vmware 4.1.
I have Veeam B&R installed on a physical server with two 4 core cpus.
When I do a full backup cpu still goes to 100%.

Has anyone else been experiencing this?

Hi Kristian, this is perfectly normal if you have high-performance source and target storage, as Veeam backup engine does inline dedupe and compression, which are very-CPU hungry operations. It takes a lot of CPU to hash and compress 100MB of data each second (when the full backup is running). Try compressing any big file on the server, and you will also see CPU usage skyrocket.

If you did not apply the vSphere 5 compatibility patch, you do not need to do anything and please disregard this topic, which is solely about additional increase in CPU usage after applying vSphere 5 compatibility patch that brings VDDK 5.0 with it.

Great job by Veeam! The server that went 100% on 2 jobs now hardly goes over 30% on three jobs.

Rescheduling solved the 100% cpu load.
We have a small period where a couple of jobs overlap and the cpu hits the 100% again.

We received the new hot-fix and applied that today which should solve that small periode of a 100% load, lets see.
