What ports are required to communicate VMware tools with Veeam?

Post by mchr »

Hi there!

Hi hope you guys can help me whit this query:
I have been searching information about the ports required to communicate VMwaretools and Veeam Backup and Replication.
Maybe I am wrong with it, but I hope you can explain me how it works that communication.

Thanks in advance!

Hello, Veeam does not communicate with VMware Tools directly over the network. You can find the entire list of ports in the User Guide > Used Ports. Thanks!

Hello,

for VMware Tools Quiescense (Job - Storage - Advanced - VMware) you do not need any special network connection.

But in general you need to have access to the ESXi hosts to process backup overall (and VIX based Guest processing): Backup Server and Proxy Server need acces by TCP 443 to vcenter and by TCP 443 + TCP 902 to the ESXi host.

In VMware Cloud on AWS, you need only access by TCP 443 to the vcenter (no access to ESXi host possible there).

If you use the Veeam Guest processing, then please check the link from Anton regarding ports.
