Adding Windows Failover cluster to Protection group fails
I'm trying to add a Windows failover cluster to a protection group but it fails. I get this error "Processing Microsoft failover cluster xxxxxxx Error: Failed to get cluster nodes" whenever I try to validate the credentials. I've verified that the account I'm using has local admin rights to the cluster and the nodes. I've even tried a domain admin account. I also verified that the ports listed here https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... l?ver=95u4 are opened to and from the cluster & cluster nodes. Please advise

Re: Adding Windows Failover cluster to Protection group fails
Hello,
as far as I can see, the case was closed already with "all backup tests were successful"
Best regards,
Hannes

Re: Adding Windows Failover cluster to Protection group fails
According to the support case notes, it turned out to be the open ports issue: Veeam B&R server was trying to communicate with the cluster on the dynamic port range and the firewall was dropping the connection. After adding the port range to the ACLs, the cluster was successfully added.

Re: Adding Windows Failover cluster to Protection group fails
Hi Dima, thanks for reply.
I'm trying to add as active directory protection group and still getting the same error. point here is whenever i try to add cluster it doesn't show type as cluster.
i cross checked and try to add individual nodes and found that there is no issue if i add individual MS cluster node so it means there is no firewall issue.

Re: Adding Windows Failover cluster to Protection group fails
i try to understand documentation but fail to get the point ->https://helpcenter.veeam.com/archive/ba ... pport.html
#######################################################################
"To process a cluster with Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows, you need to complete the following tasks:
Create a protection group that includes Active Directory objects and add to this protection group one of the following types of objects:
1. Cluster account of the failover cluster whose data you want to back up
2. Active Directory container that includes this cluster account"
#######################################################################
i didn't understand about "cluster account" - do i need a special cluster account to add MS cluster in active directory protection group?

Re: Adding Windows Failover cluster to Protection group fails
It refers to Cluster Name Object in AD DS that (should have been) created when cluster was created.
