VA for AIX job scheduling

Post by philfreund »

Since it appears that running a job on VA for AIX is single threaded, what happens if you have a running scheduled job and another scheduled job on the same server tries to start? Will the second job get queued for a retry or will it just go missing?

There a couple of ways this could happen:
  • The first job happens to run longer than expected
  • You accidently schedule two jobs to start at the same time

Hi,

The second job just won't start. Would you prefer it to start after the first job is finished, or just retry N times every M minutes?

Thanks!

For consistency with VBR, retry N times every M minutes. I'd also want notification that the job failed if it doesn't start.
