FLR of files with same name in different directories

Post by wane »

We have 40 directories, each containing several hundred files. We have to restore 5 files from each of these directories, but they all have the same name, for example

dir1 -> foo.bar
dir2 -> foo.bar
dir3 -> foo.bar

If we search for the file foo.bar using the search field at the file level restore, the file is also found in the respective directories. If we mark all files and select "Copy to", the file will be overwritten again and again, no path will be created at the target directory.

Are there any solutions for this, if necessary via Powershell?

Hello,
I'm sure that there are solutions for this :-)

1) where do you need to restore the files to? "copy to" does not work because you restore files, not folders. But what about restore to same location with keep / overwrite?
2) the backups are mounted to c:\veeamflr (you can click "open in explorer"). So you can use any scripting language to search for the files and copy them into separate folders

Best regards,
Hannes

Hi Walter,

I'm not sure what you are trying to achieve here. Can you, please, describe it in detail?
Are you attempting to restore files with the same name from different directories to whole other directories each creating target directories along the way?

Thanks,
Oleg
