LT260 / LT140 by Fujitsu - Mailslots not recognized

Post by joerg.hermanns »

Hello @All

we are running an LT140/260 Library from Fujitsu with 20 Slots enabled.
Mailslots (5 tapes) are enabled in the tape configuration.
The loader works fine, but the Mailslots are not detected by Veeam and thus the functions are greyed out.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Any hints what might be wrong?

We are using the 8.2.0.5 driver for the libraries and Veeam itself stated for the test by themselves.

Support case ID : 04522994

Kind regards

Hi Jörg,

As I understand it, Veeam just sees what windows sees -- if you poll the WMI class, do you see the mailslots listed?

From Powershell:

gwmi -Namespace root\wmi -Class mschangerparameters
or
gwmi -Class Win32_PnPEntity | ? {$_.deviceid -match "changer" }

If the WMI class doesn't return NumberIEElements, then it's not gonna be seen by applications.
Note that Microsoft has some specifics on handling "virtual" IESlots:

Hi guys,
Veeam just sees what windows sees
That's correct, we work with the devices available in the operating system. Doublecheck the drivers (and devices under Windows Device Manager - you should see the changer and all the drives correctly), if the changer is listed as Unknown Medium Changer you need to enable native SCSI commands under the library properties in the Veeam B&R UI. If that does not help, please keep working with our support. Cheers!
