Best way to move B&R off a Hyper-V host?

Post by MoranJ2000 »

I have Server 2016 running as a Hyper-V host with two Server 2016 guest VMs (a DC and a file server).

I set up B&R several weeks ago, and in an attempt to keep things as simple and self-contained as possible, I installed B&R onto the physical host, set up a repository on a USB drive, and have been backing up my VMs several times a day.

Everything seems to be running just fine, but then I read: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=100 which says not to install B&R onto the host.

Yes, I know I probably should have read those docs in advance, but I know I've seen in this forum that installing onto the host was acceptable, so I guess something changed in a recent version?

And while I figure out where else I can run B&R (don't have a lot of options) is it practical to relocate B&R by it installing somewhere else, moving the repository disk, and importing the backup configuration?

I'd appreciate any insights or suggestions. Thanks.

Joe
