I'm not sure I understood you correctly.
If you need to protect VM server, you should follow this guide for vSphere or this guide for hyper-v.
You are referring the guide for the agents which are working with physical machines.

So I'm not sure I understand what exactly you are trying to configure, could you please clarify?

May I ask you why do you need to create a protection group for a vm server?
There's no need for it if you need to protect vm server/some VMs.

as i know there is script to make the backup consistent.

I need to back up image for several servers in the SAP environment, I want to group them based on the apps and database used.

Are you going to back up those servers with the help of Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows/Linux or Veeam B&R?

because of the limited license, we will use the Veeam agent for linux and Veeam B&R as well

Hi mirfan,

working with physical infrastructure and Veeam Agent for Linux, you can create protection groups, as you have already noticed.
Speaking of virtual infrastructure, you can create a backup job and add VMs/servers on this step.
