Replication with seeding

Post by jeff.richeson »

I have a primary and DR site both with proxies. I currently have backup copies sent to the DR site and this is working fine. I want to start using replication. Since I already have files at the DR site, I specify those as the seed. What I see during the seeding operation is that the primary proxy is reading from the DR repository and writing to the DR proxy. This causes a double trip over a slow VPN link and seems to defeat the purpose of seeding. I have tried this with "automatic" as the proxy selection and specifying the source and destination proxy. Am I doing something wrong or is this the expected results?

Hi Jeff,

I think it would make sense to specify the DR proxy as a gateway server in the DR repository settings if you stored backups on SMB or NFS share.

Thanks!
