Tape fatal error I/O Error

Hello,

i'm using a HP Lto5 SCSI drive with veeam b&r community edition version 10.
My file to tape job is failing with error 1117, tape fatal error i/o error. Encryption is not enabled.
I found https://www.veeam.com/kb2983 but the patch cannot be installed on version 10.
My Case #04586343.
Hopefully someone has a solution for me.

Hi,

the hotfix from this kb should be included in v10, so there shouldn't be any reasons to try to install this hotfix on your version.

Didn't find any similar issues on forums so let's give Support a chance.
Also, do you face this issue with any tape? Did you try with another one?

Hi,
today i uninstalled V10 and installed v9.5 again. Then i followed the instructions in kb2983. Important is indeed to disconnect the lto drive after installing the hotfix.
Now tape backup is working again in version 9.5.

Thanks for sharing the update. I've asked our QA team to confirm the same behavior with latest patch for Veeam B&R v10. I'll update this thread once I hear anything. Cheers!

Hello together,

when i upgrade to version 10 the problem is back.
I opened a support case but it is getting closed because i'm using community edition.
With nakivo backup the tape drive is working fine.

my last case ID was #04594013.
It would be great, if you can find a solution for the problem.
I'm really interested in buying universal licences for our environment but i have to know that the tape backup is working befor i place the order.
