Backup Postgresql using VMware snapshots

Hi
We're to implement a couple of Linux based Postgresql database servers and I know that there's support for Postgresql using the Linux agent. We want to continue with our policy to use VMware snapshots as much as possible and not having to install software on servers.
I have seen older posts on this topic but is there any best practise for using snapshots with pre-scripts and maybe someone already have scripts for this?

If it's a snapshot do you actually require a pre-script? Not sure, just wondering if you asked yourself the question?
