Daily and monthly retention

Post by garethcayman »

Can someone advise how I do daily and monthly retention with azure backup?

I have one policy with a 30 day daily backup which is working fine.

I then setup a monthly police on the first Sunday of every month with 36 month retention but the monthly policy will not backup the VMs already protected by the daily policy.

I then went back to the daily policy to try make it daily and monthly but the radio buttons mean it’s a daily or monthly choice.

Long story short I’m about to ditch veeam azure backup because it sucks.

Unless anyone can correct me otherwise?

Hi,

You are correct. This is not possible in v1 however this will be possible with the upcoming v2 as there are improvements to the whole schedule. It will be available soon (but I can’t provide an exact date yet).

Will there be support for veeam availability console and veeam backup replication integration? Managing standalone instances is not ideal as an MSP.

Integration with VBR is on the roadmap. On the console, it would be great to know which features exactly you would like to use (licensing, form of management,...).

If you can integrate Azure Backup Appliance into Veeam Backup and Replication as per the AWS plugin that would be perfect. We are using the AWS appliance v3 for some clients for EC2, RDS and VPC backup and then using the Veeam Agent for Azure VMs currently due to the retention period issue and central management from our Veeam Backup and Replication instance. It would be great to use the native backup and snapshot features available in the Azure appliance.

Hi all, v2 is now available providing both the options to utilize the new schedule and integration with VBR using the plugin.
