Will Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure ever support Application-Aware Processing?

Our PDC is running in Microsoft Azure, it would be handy if we could initiate Non-Authoritative restore on the PDC in Azure if something goes wrong, so it could replicate from other domain controllers without the need to do a fresh install and clean up server metadata.

At this moment we still have to backup our on-premise ADC with Application-Aware Processing.

Currently restoring DC with Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure will result in USN rollback.
What is current best practice to backup and restore DC in Azure with Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure?

Certainly, moreover I believe this is coming in the immediate next release and will be based on the same proven application-aware processing components used by Veeam Backup & Replication. However I need the PM for this product to confirm for sure, because I might be confused with multiple development branches they have, and what branch is what release

I see there is some level of application awareness for the Veeam for AWS offering but it seems limited to EC2 instances running Windows.

Yesterday upgraded Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure Free Edition to Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure BYOL Edition. Like @mfongemie I also noticed the Application Processing but still not operational for Azure Blob container?

Are there furthermore any plans to “recover” backups from Azure Blob container if you have to redeploy the Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure from scratch?

Application-aware processing is currently only available for virtual machines. Could you clarify more about how you use Azure Blob and which part you are asking for regarding application consistency?

Also, VBA comes with auto-backup which allows you to recover if something goes wrong with the appliance.

DC002: Domain Controller
application-aware backup with Veeam Backup & Replication 10

So is this functionality in Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure - Guest Processing: Enable application aware snapshots, the same?
The goal is to be able to do a non-authoritative restore in Azure

I know there are auto-backup snapshots but we migrated to a new tenant & subscription, for some reason it was not possible to move the snapshots and VBA VM.
Because all information about snapshots/backups is stored inside the VM it is unfortunately not possible to link the storage account and VBA would detect backups.

Application-aware processing will talk to VSS and assure the application is put in the correct state before the snapshot is made. VB for Azure does not provide a Veeam Explorer for Active Directory though.
