[Feature Request] - Synthetic Full for NTX AHV Backups
It would be nice, if Nutanix AHV VMImage backup jobs will be able to leverage Synthetic Full too.
Please add this feature, so that every veeam product is similar in backup modes
We want to be able to use the new Hardened Backup Repo without active Full Jobs. And fast and spaceless Synthetic Fulls on a xfs repository have some advantages too. Until the feature is released, I can life with AHV backup copys to a linux hardened repo.

Yes synthetic fulls for AHV is a frequent request from our field as well and is certainly on our PM team's radar.
Please note that the new hardened Linux repo does not yet support AHV backups. AHV backup copies are fine as you note however...

My mistake I didn't scroll down far enough on -https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110 to see that AHV backups are supported on the new hardened Linux repository...

Re: [Feature Request] - Synthetic Full for NTX AHV Backups
Thank you Ronn. As long we are not doing active fulls, the immutable flag will not be used. But backup can be target to the hardened Repo
Hopefully, synthetic full will make it to version 3.0

ANY image-level backup is supported by hardened repositories in V11.

Re: [Feature Request] - Synthetic Full for NTX AHV Backups
Just to add +1 request for Synthetic Full on Nutanix Proxies. I had a customer with 17 Nutanix Hosts and since we can use only 1x AHV proxy per cluster, it limit us to add new workloads specially because of the Active Full Backups that are mandatory on the weekends.

[MERGED] FEEATURE Request - Implement Reverse Incremental and Synthetic Full to AHV Backup
Please add support for Synthetic Full and Reverse Incremental Backup to AHV!
We have big problems on restore single file from AHV Backups. Retention is 30 Days and opening the File Browser takes up to 4 Hours!!
Weekly Full is not a option - On this Cluster there are nearly 400 VMs with 30 Days retention and the total amount of Storage is up to 90TB. This is one cluster - we have 6!
Weekly Full is no option in this case!
Our current workaround is to restore the VM and pick files from there...

Already created one
post402774.html#p402774
As a workaround, I recommend todo the backup job with a retention of 7 days.
Create a backup copy job for that backup job with your desired retention (GFS and Short Term possible)
Backup copy jobs of Nutanix AHV Jobs can use synthetic fulls with FastClone.

@Mildur But this requires minimum two full backups on the disks - Means 180T in my case...

Re: [Feature Request] - Synthetic Full for NTX AHV Backups
Yes, that's true. It's a decision between saving money or doing restores at normal speed for now.@Mildur But this requires minimum two full backups on the disks - Means 180T in my case...
Do you have a second copy of the Nutanix backups somewhere? Tape Backups?
Or is this your only copy? If you have only the backup job, I recommend to design a solution for a backup copy job. 90TB FullBackup looks not like something I like to loose.

@Veeam staff - any updates on when this feature will likely be available?
I've also got 2 Nutanix clusters so would love to be able to improve my backup process with synthetic fulls.

Hi Guys,
Is it in Veeam's roadmap to implement Synthetic Fulls ? This would be a major improvement.

Hi Brent
Yes, it's planned for the next release 4.0 bundled with VBR V12.
You can watch the announcement session from our VeeamOn.
Thanks
Fabian

Very exciting! Also excited for the GFS feature to be added.
When is VBR V12 and AHV proxy V4 due to be released?
