Failed to restore item ... Inactive datastore "datastore".

Post by hartsmm »

Hello, when trying to restore a vm to a new created datastore
I recieve the error: Failed to restore item "xyz"Inactive datastore "xyz NFS".

What does a inactive datastore mean?
I can read and write to this datastore, hence if I restore al the Specific VM files only... and select all the files to the same datastore (/vmfs/volumes/xyzNFS/dir), browse it within VMware, and RMC Add to Inventory it works fine ;-)
any thoughts?

ps these are backup with no VSS.

thanks!

Best regards,

Henk

Henk, there is an issue with NFS datastores in Backup 3.0.1 when you are using Virtual Center. To work around it, add your target ESX host to your management tree individually (using its IP address), and then you should be able to restore to it. This issue will be fixed in the next update. Thank you.
