Instant VM recovery Nutanix to vMware

Post by MMASLOUH »

Hi,

Im trying to restore my Lab VMs from Nutanix to vMware by instant VM recovery, at the end of migration to production process i found that all disks are in Thick provision eager zeroed.

Is there any option in instant VM recovery to change disk type to thin provision ?

VBR Build 10.

Thanks.

Hello,

when you do storage vMotion in VCenter, then you can convert from thick to thin and vice versa.

Update: you can also change the disk format in the destination settings -> pick datastore -> add VM -> change

Hi Hannesk,

Thanks for the reply, i will go with vMotion option.

For the update, i don't think this option is available only for vMware vSphere to vMware vSphere not AHV to vMware vSphere.

Hello,
it works exactly the same like VMware for me with Nutanix backups as source.

I have the same settings. Well, "thin" is the default setting for me - no idea why it is "thick" in your case.

If that option is not available for you, then please post the case number where we can investigate logs.

Best regards,
Hannes
