Why cannot add new files to Tape with free space
Lat month have copied some backup file on my Tape that was resided on the Test1 Pool. the tape has about 700GB free space. Now I want copy 100GB file on that tape . in the first step I moved the tape in a new pool with the name of Test2 and do inventory and catalog on it.
for the next step I have created a File to Tape job and select files and select Pool "Test2" for full backup and also Pool "Test2" for incremental backup .
Finally Right click on job and select Active Full . but job cannot start and and wait on this status " Waiting Tape - Add tape to media pool Test2 (QUANTUM Scalar i3-i6 150G (VEEAM)) " , however there is a tape with more than 700G free space in the Test2 Pool.
How can solve the issue ?

Hello,
sounds like a similar question like here? post406287.html#p406287
you need to configure "Always continuing one media set." and use one media pool https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110 "Do not create, always continue using current media set. "
Best regards,
Hannes

Hey George,
Just because you have that option set does not mean it will never close the media set. There are many reasons why the media set might close.

Check the exceptions there. Almost certainly, your media set is closed and this tape cannot be written to any more.

Re: Why cannot add new files to Tape with free space
That's the reason why media set was closed. Media pool can keep only one opened media set at a time, if latest tape is not present when tape job kicks in, VBR marks such tape as 'closed' and will start writing new tape. Simply put - you can append data only to the lastest tape in the media pool (unless you are using GFS or parallel processing). Cheers!Tape was written one months ago and export but today want add some data to it
