File backup: Your license has been exceeded

Post by riahc3 »

Hello

I was setting up a file backup and I just got this error message:

Image

As you can see I have a enterprise plus license so I should not have any issues. Im not running any other backups jobs or anything at the same time

We can not see your license edition with the VUL on the screenshot :)

It’s 500GB frontend Data per Instance/License.
How much do you have backuped until now?

To clarify, it's 500 GB/instance for v11. For previous versions, it's 250 GB/instance and that first 250 Gb is free.

@John, the "edition" is meaningless; how many instances are in use and how much data was previously backed up from the share matters.

From the Menu > License option, you'll see a license report; run it and see your usage of instances. That 72 GiB triggers this license warning tells me you've exceeded your instances in some other method.

From the Menu > License option, you'll see a license report;
You need to go a little further: click the Instance tab and then manage button to check the actual license consumption for \\FS01\s file share. Likely you have other jobs with the \\FS01\s file share selected as a source :wink:

That is correct. However, first 500GB per file share do not consume the license, and according to the screenshot above you have much less than that. So, I think you should open a support case to troubleshoot this. Thanks!

Um.....Thats strange.

I have a lot more than 500GB in files to backup.

Its kind of odd to license based on data to backup.

Unfortunately, there are no other way to measure file shares, other than based on data size.
Unless you suggest we should charge the same for backing up 1TB and 1PB file share.
