Persistent Cache size estimates for offload to S3

Post by HangTen »

Hi!

We are looking at migrating some backups to repositories with offload to S3 compatible storage and we were just wondering if there is a way to estimate how much persistent cache data will be stored locally. We would like to properly plan local storage needs as part of this project.

Thanks in advance.

The Veeam Calculator for VBO365 can calculate your needed cache data size:

Second, from the Veeam Best Practice Guide:

Local Cache
As a rule of thumb provide ~1% of the source data size as local cache for metadata for the object storage repository.

@Mildur is correct!

As always, thanks Fabian. Next time we can see each other face to face, remind me to buy you a (Belgian) beer ;-)

Kudos (and Belgian beer) to the both of you for your help. We already ran the calculator. I wasn't aware of the cache part of it. I have what I need. Thanks!
