Veeam do not backup all files on NAS

Post by Tutek »

Hi,
my every backup job of my QNAP nas, have this warning "Some files remained locked for the entire duration of the backup job, and were skipped. Skipped files report can be found on the backup server at C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup\..."
is any way to instruct Veeam to force close all open files and backup it?

Hello,

From the operating system point of view, usually, there is no way to unlock a locked file without killing the process/application causing the lock. Since we do not know what is locking the file and if it is important for you or not, there is no way to automate this process. You may find out what is causing the lock and fix it manually - our reports highlighting skipped files should help with this.

Thanks

If your QNAP NAS can perform storage snapshots, you can instruct Veeam to read data from snapshot, rather than from production share itself.
That will eliminate file locks in it's root.

/Cheers!
