Prevent Veeam Agent for Windows from shutting down windows ?

Post by zadrian »

I have approx 12 sets Windows 10 notebooks that cannot start windows and have to re-install Windows 10. Cannot boot into safe mode nor cannot uninstall updates as there are updates pending.
It seems that Veeam Agent for Windows 4.x was set to shutdown the notebooks after it ran backup at 2100hrs. But Veeam Agent for Windows 4.x shutdown the notebooks even when Windows was updating 1/2 way.

We reproduced the issue by changing time of the backup for some notebooks today to 10am and 2 of the 5 notebooks had the same issue. Windows booted into recovery screen when manually started and could never enter Windows any more.

Hi zadrian!

If you need to manage post-backup behaviour of the Agent, please refer to these instructions in the guide:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/agent ... tml?ver=50

However, if you need to impose a shutdown prevention mechanism system-wide, a better approach would be to set up a group policy, e.g.:

zadrian,

Can I ask you to raise a support case? We've checked the behavior in our lab and despite the fact that we a sending the shutdown command to Windows it puts the shutdown on hold due to the running updates. Please share the case id with us once you have it. Cheers!
