bhagen wrote: Jan 07, 2021 9:23 pmAre there install instructions for this latest patch somewhere? I clicked the kb article link, but...no "instructions". I'm wondering if we're going to have to update licensing and/or veeam for windows agents.
There are no install instructions because they are not really needed for cumulative patches (unlike for product upgrades), except a few lines in the setup wizard. Just run the patch setup on your backup server and follow the wizard to the end, reading the descriptions. It will replace some product files with the patched one and exit. You will note that even product version does not change as the result, so it's really not that big of a deal comparing to an upgrade to another product version. Thanks!

We don't specifically test individual vSphere patch builds, but they are nevertheless supported "by default" (just like Windows Updates) because they include bugfix only.

Will the new 6-month Update release cadence change anything in re: waiting on full regression testing? The concern could be that one day there will be a zero-day patch released not as a Patch release but as an Update and customers have to make hard choices.

How often vSphere updates are released does not really matter. What matters is:
1. The RTM code is not provided to partners in advance at all (at least 2 weeks in advance would be nice).
2. There's a big gap between the last RC build and the GA build, during which they keep changing the code - and this activity has a history of introducing breaking changes.

What would change the situation is if VMware released the RTM build to partners first, before making it generally available. Basically, exactly what we've been doing here at Veeam for many years now... and what Microsoft has been doing since forever (actually, these guys have a few months gap between RTM and GA for LTSC Windows Server releases).

VBR11 supports ESXi 7.0 Update 1.
According this article, vSphere and vSAN updates simultaneously.
https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2150753,

Currently "vSAN 7.0 Update 1" also supported?

Hi Sureshbabu

No, at least V11a is required. You can look it up in our supported vSphere KB article:
https://www.veeam.com/kb2443

I suggest to upgrade to the latest build 11.0.1.1261 P20220302:
https://www.veeam.com/kb2680

Thanks

Hello Fabin,
Thanks for your immediate response
If we can upgrade the vSphere ESXi 6.7U3 to 7.01 U1 does it will support for Veeam10a and then upgrade Upgrade the veeam from 10a to 11a(11.0.1.1261 P20220302). Post that upgrade the vSphere to 7.03U3.

Hi Sureshbabu

Yes, if you are on this build: 10.0.1.4854 P20201202
But why doing the additional upgrade path? You should be able to upgrade vSphere 6.7 U3 directly to 7.0 U3:
https://interopmatrix.vmware.com/Upgrade?productId=1

And you can upgrade Veeam 10a directly to Veeam 11a (11.0.1.1261 P20220302): https://www.veeam.com/kb2053

Thanks

Hello Fabin,

Many thanks for your reply. all our environment is currently is with ESXi6.7 & Veeam 10a. Does Veeam 11a will support for ESXi6.7U3 if we Can directly upgrade veeam 10a to 11a? if not we have to go via 2 layers upgrade.

You're welcome.
Does Veeam 11a will support for ESXi6.7U3
Yes, it does.
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110
Can directly upgrade veeam 10a to 11a?
Yes, in my last answer I provided a kb article with the supported upgrade paths.
10.x to 11a is what you want to do:
https://www.veeam.com/kb2053

First, you can upgrade Veeam Backup & Replication, and in a second step your vSphere environment.

Thanks
