Veeam & Server Upgrade path

Hi all!

We encountered a very outdated ESXi5.5 with Server 2008R2 running Veeam 9.5, this needs to be upgraded to Server2016 and Veeam11 running on ESXi 7U1.

Is there a way to migrate the Settings/Database from 9.5 to 11?

Or do we have to install Veeam 9.5 on Server2016 first, move/transfer the Backup settings and upgrade Veeam after that?

Just checked, I could go to Veeam 11 on 2008R2 first... what do you guys find the most reliable way?

first it depends which version of 9.5 you have. 9.5 Update 4b is minimum https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110

I see several ways:
1) you upgrade on the old 2008R2 to V11 and do a configuration backup & restore https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110
2) you start with 9.5 on Server 2016 and upgrade there to V11
3) If you run older 9.5U4, then your environment is probably so small, that configuring the jobs from scratch is more efficient than doing multiple upgrades

By the way: Server 2022 is around the corner, so I would start with Server 2019

They're on 9.5.4.2866, that should be 4b!

Server2016 is given due to other restrictions, we would have preferred 2019 as well.

Hello,
we have one physical server with windows server 2012 R2 and veeam backup and replication 9.5 update 4b (9.5.4.2866). We have bougth a new physical server with windows server 2019. We need to decomission the old server, without job interrunting and keeping all settings. Is it possible to install on the new server veeam 11 and restore the configuration from the old one ?
